Toum Tiou I Cruise Upstream 8 days: Saigon - Siem Reap

Afternoon & Evening

Our guides and crew will welcome you to Toum Tiou at Saigon Port (Cang Nha Rong Port - No 5, Nguyen Tat Thanh Street, District 4).

The ship is all spruced up and ready to welcome you on board as she departs for My Tho, marking the beginning of your journey along the Mekong.

Settle in and enjoy a refreshing welcome drink, followed by a brief introduction to the cruise itinerary and onboard facilities.

As evening falls, a delightful welcome dinner is served, offering a relaxed first taste of the voyage ahead. You will then spend a peaceful night onboard, surrounded by the calm waters of the river.

Morning

The ship departs at the crack of dawn. Begin the day with a sumptuous breakfast whilst the ship navigates delicately along the marvellous canal of Cho Gao.

Upon arrival at My Tho, the cruise set anchor at Thoi Son Island. This place stands out with its fruit orchards, gardens, and majestic rice fields in Southeast Vietnam. Then, we visit Vinh Trang Pagoda, one of the most well-known temples in the area.

Local boats are sent to the ship to transfer you to the mainland. We later embark on a short panoramic tour of My Tho, stopping halfway for a visit to its colourful market. 

Afterward, we return to the pier and cruise on the river to Dragon Island, where we have the opportunity to explore the island. Exploring the daily life of the local people and enjoying the flavors of locally sourced seasonal fruits.

Afternoon

Passengers re-embark the ship then it departs My Tho for Cai Be. A special lunch spread is served before the ship drops anchor at Cai Be. 

Toum Tiou I drops anchor. Once we reach the land, we'll start to visit the handicraft village where workers produce rice paper, rice wine, popped rice, etc

Then continue to visit Vinh Long to visit a brick pottery factory and admire the Binh Hoa Phuoc Islet Nursery of Fruit Trees as well as a typical house and a showroom of traditional farming tools. 

Evening

We re-embark on Toum Tiou and move to Sa Dec. After arrival, the ship drops anchor, and a delectable dinner awaits. Afterward, enjoy your free time on board.

Morning

Have breakfast in the early morning before joining a sightseeing tour in Sa Dec.

We'll transfer to Trung Vuong Primary School by bus and continue to visit Kien An Cung Pagoda, which is known for its unique architecture, providing visitors with a peaceful space to explore Vietnam's spiritual heritage.

We keep walking around Sa Dec Market along the Sa Dec River shore. In this small city, you can see a part of daily life in the delta, including old colonial houses known as "Chinaman's houses".

After visiting, we will sail back to the pier and arrive at Chau Doc. Lunch and rest on the cruise.

Afternoon

We started to raise fish on a raft at Chau Doc. If time allows, tourists can watch the sunset on Sam Mountain at 237 meters high. Its well-known Buddhist sanctuaries offer an unobstructed view over the mosaic of glistening rice paddies below. To your left is Cambodia, with the flow of the Mekong on the horizon breaking into an infinity of silver ribbons.

Or, at your option, have a visit midway to Lady Chua Xu Temple and Tay An Pagoda while getting to the mountaintop.

Dinner

After a long day, we'll return to the ship and have a nice dinner on board. Free time is at your disposal.

Morning & Afternoon

Enjoy a hearty breakfast while Toum Tiou leaves early in the morning for Vinh Xuong (Vietnamese border). Let's carry out border clearance procedures.

This morning is your leisure time to relax in the cabin or experience onboard services. You also can spend time on the sundeck sunbathing and admiring the charm of the Mekong River.

Have lunch while Toum Tiou leaves the Vinh Xuong checkpoint for Phnom Penh.

Evening

After arriving at Phnom Penh, Toum Tiou will anchor at the riverbank near the city. Freely explore the capital at night.

Morning

We'll have breakfast to recharge your energy before participating in a city tour of Phnom Penh with a visit to some highlight attractions.

The first point of this city tour is the magnificent Royal Palace. All of Cambodia's kings have lived in this palace, except for a brief break during the Khmer Rouge's rule of the nation.

Next to the Royal Palace is Silver Pagoda. The royal family is the legal owner of this temple, which is home to several national treasures, including gold-and-jewelry Buddha sculptures.

Continue exploring the National Museum of Phnom Penh. The French colonial government constructed this important archaeological and historical museum between 1917 and 1920, and it is still operational today.

Then we'll have lunch at a local restaurant. 

Afternoon

Continue to visit Toul Sleng's old center of detention. The Khmer Rouge used the old secondary school in the notorious Security Prison 21 (S-21). It quickly became the biggest detention and torture facility in the nation. 

For the rest of this afternoon, we'll visit the bustling Russian Market. Let's stroll around and buy ourselves some street food or souvenirs.

Evening

Return to the cruise and enjoy a local group performance on board the traditional Apsara show, which is graceful and beguiling.

Morning

You are free to immerse yourself in the exploration of the city at your own pace. 

Around noon, we return to the boat and prepare for lunch. The ship will leave Phnom Penh and depart to Kampong Tralach. Lunch will be served while sailing. 

Afternoon

After arriving at Kampong Tralach, we will cross Kampong Tralach Krom village to visit the wonderful Vihara belonging to Wat Kampong Tralach Leu. The pagoda features a stunning vihara and houses important religious artifacts, making it a significant and serene spiritual site. 

Evening

Tourists board the Toum Tiou for dinner and stay overnight onboard.

Morning

Have breakfast while Toum Tiou sails to Kampong Chhnang. Then, we visit the charming Kampong Chhnang, which is known as one of the largest fishing ports on the Tonlé Sap.

Sample the products of the Thnot tree (the sugar palm tree – a truly national symbol): a mellow-tasting, caramel-colored sugar sold like candies and palm wine.

Afternoon & Evening

Return to the cruise to have lunch on board while Toum Tiou sets sail to Koh Chen. 

Enjoy a farewell cocktail with the Master of the Ship & Cruise Manager. Have the Captain’s farewell dinner (Enriched menu + 1 glass of wine) and overnight on board.

Low Water - From Jan to Jun

After breakfast, the bus transfer from Koh Chen to a Hotel in Siem Reap (5-6 hours bus ride), the final destination point of our journey.

High Water - From Jul to Dec

The departure of the Toum Tiou is early in the morning. Time to pack and relax a half a day by crossing the Tonlé Sap Lake.  

11:00 Arrival at Phnom Krom pier (~5 miles from Siem Reap). The bus will transfer passengers to a Hotel, the final destination point of our trip.
