Morning
Wake up early to embrace the serene beauty of dawn, a magical hour. Start your day with an energising Tai Chi session before enjoying a generous breakfast buffet.
We then set out by local boat to Sa Dec, which offers a captivating blend of colonial heritage and authentic Mekong Delta life. Let's start by wandering through the bustling central market, where colorful displays of fresh produce, seafood, and local specialties showcase the region’s agricultural abundance.
Continue to the historic residence of Huynh Thuy Le, best known for its connection to Marguerite Duras’ The Lover. The beautifully preserved house provides insight into a story that has become part of the town’s cultural legacy.
The excursion concludes at Kien An Cung Pagoda, a century-old Chinese temple renowned for its intricate architecture and serene atmosphere. Nestled along the riverside, it offers a tranquil retreat from the vibrant energy of the town before returning to the ship.
Afternoon & Evening
Our journey continues to a workshop in Cai Be, where you’ll witness the production of rice paper, rice cookies, rice wine, and coconut candies. Each step of the process is still done by hand, using time-honoured techniques passed down through generations.
From there, we travel to Tan Phong Island, a charming islet in the middle of the vast Mekong. Here, we are welcomed into a local family’s fruit garden to taste a variety of fresh tropical delights.
A leisurely buggy ride across the island offers glimpses into the daily lives of its residents before we stop at another household, where artisans transform water hyacinths into beautiful handwoven crafts.
Back on board, the ship makes its final sailing towards My Tho. As we bid farewell to the Mekong, the atmosphere comes alive with celebratory vibes, bringing your journey to a joyful close.
