Morning
On the first morning, you should wake up early to embrace the breathtaking dawn scenery. Our daily morning Tai Chi class is open to partake in before treating yourself to an opulent breakfast buffet.
During a tour to a nearby workshop in Cai Be town, we'll have the chance to witness the making process of rice paste, rice paper, rice cookies, and rice wine. This area is not only rich with palm trees, but it is also renowned for its coconut candy production.
Afterward, head to Tan Phong Island to visit a local family and savor exotic fruits from their garden. A buggy ride through the island gave us a glimpse of the local day-to-day life as it unfolds. We stop at another family’s house, specialised in weaving water hyacinth plants into artistic crafts by hand.
Afternoon & Evening
In the afternoon, you can relax and enjoy some private time on the balcony or at the bar as we continue upstream.
We then arrive at Sa Dec, a charming riverside town in Dong Thap Province, where colonial heritage blends seamlessly with the rhythms of daily Mekong life.
Begin with a stroll through the bustling central market, filled with fresh produce, seafood, and local specialties that showcase the region’s agricultural richness.
The cultural experience continues with a visit to the ancient house of Huynh Thuy Le, famously associated with Marguerite Duras’ The Lover. Exploring the residence offers insight into a story that has become part of the town’s identity.
The excursion concludes at Kien An Cung Pagoda, a century-old Chinese temple known for its intricate architecture and serene atmosphere. Set along the riverside, it provides a peaceful contrast to the vibrant streets of Sa Dec before returning to the cruise.
While waiting for dinner, all passengers are welcome to join us in the lounge for a lecture about living in the Mekong Delta. The ship cruises toward our overnight mooring.
