Cruise Itineraries

Day 1Phnom Penh - Border Crossing - Gieng Island

Morning

Welcome aboard Heritage Line for your unforgettable Mekong River adventure. After check-in, gather in the lobby lounge for a safety briefing to begin your journey smoothly.

Before leaving Phnom Penh behind, guests are invited to a deeply moving testimony in the lounge. Mr. Sum Rithy, a survivor of the infamous S21 prison and later a key witness in the Khmer Rouge tribunal, shares his personal story of resilience. This is a rare opportunity to engage directly with someone who lived through one of Cambodia’s darkest chapters.

Afternoon & Evening

As the ship sets sail, the remainder of the day is yours to enjoy. Slip into the soothing rhythm of the river, whether that means unwinding with a spa treatment, reclining on your private balcony, etc.

A visit to the bridge offers delightful encounters with the captain, who gladly shares anecdotes about “his” river. Or, immerse yourself in Cambodia’s culinary traditions with a hands-on workshop led by our head chef.

Later, as you sip tea and savor light bites, the vessel approaches the border. By evening, we cross into Vietnam and continue cruising into the vibrant heart of the Mekong Delta, mooring for the night near Gieng Island.

Meals: Lunch, Dinner

Day 2Gieng Island - My An Hung

Morning & Afternoon

After a morning Tai Chi session and breakfast, we set out to explore Gieng Island, a vibrant snapshot of life in the Mekong Delta. Also called Mango Island, it’s a delight to stroll beneath lush groves that define the landscape.

We visit a small incense workshop to see the delicate craft of hand-rolling fragrant sticks and a traditional boatyard where families build wooden vessels essential to river life.

Before departing, we enjoy freshly picked mangoes and local tea in the courtyard of a century-old home, a moment that perfectly captures the simplicity and joy of Mekong living.

Following lunch and a restful siesta, our guide presents insights into Delta life as we sail towards My An Hung in Sa Dec province.

Here, we step into a local family’s household, wander through seasonal vegetable fields, and share tea while sampling fresh fruits from nearby gardens. A vibrant dragon dance performance adds cultural flair as we enjoy these “vitamin bombs.”

Back onboard, the ship glides into sunset. A complimentary cocktail hour with alfresco snacks, music, and dance sets the mood for the evening before dinner is served. Overnight on board.

Day 3Sa Dec - Tan Phong Island - My Tho

Morning

Wake early to embrace the stunning dawn scenery as the Delta stirs to life. Start the day with Tai Chi before enjoying a hearty breakfast buffet.

By local boat, we journey to Sa Dec, a picturesque riverside town in Dong Thap Province known for its blend of colonial charm and authentic Mekong culture.

Explore the vibrant central market, where stalls overflowing with fresh fruits, vegetables, seafood, and local treats offer a glimpse into the region’s daily life and agricultural abundance.

Later, we continue to the ancient house of Huynh Thuy Le, forever linked to Marguerite Duras’ The Lover. The well-preserved house reflects a fascinating chapter of local history and literary heritage.

The visit then leads to Kien An Cung Pagoda, a beautifully decorated Chinese temple that has stood for over a century. Its peaceful ambiance and elegant architecture create a tranquil pause before returning to the comfort of the ship.

Afternoon & Evening

In Cai Be, we will explore workshops producing rice paper, cookies, wine, and coconut candies, all crafted with traditional techniques.

We continue to Tan Phong Island, where a local family welcomes us into their fruit garden to sample tropical flavors. Afterward, join a fun buggy ride that offers glimpses of everyday island life, with a stop to see artisans weaving water hyacinths into handmade crafts.

Once everyone is back on board, the ship makes its final journey to My Tho, offering some farewell party vibes along the way.

Day 4My Tho - Saigon

Savor your final breakfast on board your floating abode.

Following this, we disembark from the ship and embark on a bus transfer from My Tho to Saigon. The journey spans approximately 70 kilometers on the highway, ensuring your arrival in Saigon by mid-morning.

We hope that your joy is on the same level as ours. Carry this captivating cruise and photograph with you to keep a memory of this amazing river.

I recently finished it, and it was the most amazing trip I have ever experienced. It was everything Rosie said and more. I couldn't rate the Jahan staff and crew any higher, and Rosie was always helpful, no matter the time or what questions I had.

The cruise was brilliant! I did a Tripadvisor review praising them and you - thank you for everything. The Angkor Wat day went OK, but it was so hot that David felt quite bad, but that’s not your fault. Best wishes, Frances

I contacted BestPrice Travel early this year as I was planning a trip to Vietnam and Cambodia and wanted to cruise the Mekong River.
Rosie from BestPrice reached out to me and made several recommendations based on my requirements and dates. She recommended the Jahan, Heritage Line, from Saigon to Siem Reap (8 days and 7 nights). Rosie highly recommended Heritage, and the boat, people, food, excursions, service, and guides were exemplary.
Great overall experience.

The Jahan

We had a 7-day cruise on the Jahan Heritage Line.
Despite a few mix-ups with my original booking, she was always very helpful and answered any correspondence quickly.
The meals were amazing with excellent choices and presentation. All the staff were courteous and respectful, and we had a good rapport with a lot of them.
