Bassac Cruise 3 Days: Can Tho & Cai Be

Afternoon

Upon your arrival at Cai Be Pier around 11:30 - 12:00, you'll board the Bassac Cruise and be warmly welcomed with a warm drink and an introduction to both the ship and its crew, then check into the comfortable cabins. 

Our course is set for Cho Lach, navigating the Tien Giang River as we enjoy lunch on board and find solace on the deck. 

The Bassac gracefully glides into the bustling Cho Lach Canal, amidst the vibrant river traffic, markets, and churches. This provides a unique opportunity to witness the diverse and lively scenes along the banks and water. 

Witness the local lifestyle on the river.

As the afternoon unfolds, the Bassac drops anchor, allowing us to explore ashore. Venture beyond the initial tree line and discover the serene life in the delta's countryside - rice fields, fruit orchards, and the warm embrace of the local inhabitants. 

Alternatively, you can choose a brief cycling tour of the surrounding area to discover more about the locals' lives.

Upon returning on board, relish a complimentary drink as a welcome-back gesture.

Evening

Unwind on the deck, savoring the mesmerizing sunset, before the crew serves a delightful dinner while the Bassac gracefully cruises along the Mang Thit River. 

Our night's anchorage is just downstream from Tra On, promising a tranquil and restful night.

Morning

Setting sail in the early morning, our boat embarks on a journey towards Can Tho. Let's get to the restaurant for a fulfilling breakfast. 

Upon reaching Can Tho, we transfer to a local boat for an immersive visit to the bustling Cai Rang floating market, where locals sell and buy goods, followed by a stop at a small bamboo basket workshop.

By mid-morning, we return to the Ninh Kieu pier. As we reboard the Bassac Cruise, a welcoming drink awaits, and our adventure continues downstream along the Hau River. 

Afternoon

Indulge in a delectable lunch on board while cruising through the picturesque Nicolai canal, exploring the Mang Thit and Co Chien rivers. Relax on the upper deck, surrounded by the scenic beauty of rice fields, sugar cane, and wooded banks. 

In the mid-afternoon, the Bassac drops anchor for an onshore excursion - a serene exploration beyond the first tree line into the peaceful delta countryside. Discover the charm of rice fields, fruit orchards, and the friendly locals, or opt for a brief cycling tour of the surrounding area.

Upon reboarding, a complimentary drink welcomes you back. Whether you choose to unwind on the deck or at the bar, soak in the breathtaking sunset. 

The crew will serve a delightful dinner while the Bassac gracefully cruises the Mang Thit River. As night falls, the Bassac finds its anchor point for a peaceful night on the tranquil waters.

Setting sail at 6:00, the ship gracefully cruises toward Cai Be. Enjoy the stunning riverview as you enjoy a tasty breakfast in the restaurant.

Navigating the Co Chien River, the Bassac then meanders into the Cho Lach canal for 30 minutes, weaving through a lively tapestry of sand and rice barges. The picturesque journey unfolds against a backdrop of fruit-drying facilities and wooden shipbuilding yards. 

Around 8:00, when we reach Cai Be, it's time for check-out and a transfer to a rowing boat, offering a tranquil exploration through a small canal if the tide permits. 

Later, rendezvous with a local boat that will ferry you to shore for an enriching visit to Cai Be's handicraft scene. The trip concludes as you reach Cai Be pier around 10:30.

NOTE: You will leave the Bassac for good upon boarding the small boat for the last visit, typically about 8:00.

Embarking at Ninh Kieu Pier in Can Tho around 12:00, our journey commences with a warm welcome drink, an introduction to the ship and its dedicated crew, and a check-in process into the inviting cabins. 

As we set sail downstream of the Hau River, a delectable lunch is served on board during our scenic route. 

Guiding through the Nicolai canal, we make our way towards the Mang Thit and Co Chien rivers, where the upper deck provides a perfect vantage point to rest and take in the picturesque views of rice fields, sugar cane, and wooded banks.

In the mid-afternoon, the Bassac drops anchor, inviting us to explore the delta's countryside. Whether it's a peaceful stroll past the first tree line, discovering life in rice fields and among fruit trees, or opting for a short cycling tour of the surrounding area, the choice is yours.

After reboarding, a complimentary drink welcomes you back, allowing for relaxation on the deck or around the bar while basking in the glow of the sunset. 

Dinner is expertly served by the attentive crew as the Bassac gracefully cruises the river, setting anchor for a tranquil night on the serene waters of the Mekong River.

Embarking on our river voyage, the boat gracefully cruises towards Cai Be, while a delightful breakfast is served. 

Crossing the Co Chien River, the Bassac then navigates into the Cho Lach Canal, a 30-minute journey amid the lively traffic of sand and rice barges. The surroundings unfold with glimpses of fruit-drying facilities and wooden shipbuilding yards. 

Upon reaching Cai Be, a transfer to a rowing boat offers a serene visit through a small canal, provided the tide permits. A rendezvous with a local boat awaits, ready to take us to shore for an exploration of Cai Be's rich handicraft scene.

Enjoy lunch en route, then you can relax on the upper deck, surrounded by the scenic beauty of rice fields, sugar cane, and wooded banks.

The Bassac once again passes by the Cho Lach canal, weaving through the vibrant river traffic, markets, and churches. This unique experience offers a glimpse into the varied life on the banks and the water. 

By mid-afternoon, the Bassac drops anchor for an onshore visit, allowing us to discover the peaceful life in the delta's countryside beyond the first tree line - rice fields, fruit trees, and the warm embrace of the local inhabitants. Alternatively, embark on a short cycling tour of the surrounding area.

Upon reboarding, a complimentary drink welcomes us back on board. Rest on the deck, savoring the sunset, or find a cozy spot around the bar. 

The crew expertly serves dinner as the Bassac gracefully cruises the Mang Thit River, ultimately setting anchor just downstream from Tra On for a tranquil night on the water.

The boat departs at 6:00, cruising toward Can Tho, with breakfast served onboard later.

Upon arrival at Can Tho, we will check out around 8:00, then transfer to a local boat to explore the vibrant Cai Rang Floating Market, the largest and most lively floating market in the Mekong Delta. Here, dozens of boats laden with fresh fruits, vegetables, and local specialties gather at dawn, creating a colorful scene of river trade.

Our journey continues with a visit to a small bamboo basket workshop, allowing us to witness local craftsmanship. As the morning unfolds, we return to the Ninh Kieu pier, concluding our services by mid-morning on the shores of Can Tho.
