Day 3: Full-day Explore Angkor Wat Complex

Today, you will join a full-day tour to explore the Angkor complex. The travel guide will take you to the complex and introduce to you the history and characteristics of Angkor Wat.

In the morning

You will be visiting Ta Prohm Temple, the undisputed capital of the kingdom of the Trees. The temple is embraced by the roots of enormous fig trees and gigantic creepers, creating a holy scene. Ta Prohm was also the location where the famous Hollywood film Tomb Raider was filmed.

After Ta Prohm Temple, you will visit the ancient capital of Angkor Thom. The tour will start from the South Gate, then continue to the Bayon Temple which is unique for its 54 towers decorated with over 200 smiling faces of Avalokitesvara, the Phimeanakas, the Royal Enclosure, the Elephants Terrace, and the Terrace of the Leper King.

In the afternoon

We will explore the most famous temple of all the temples in Angkor, which is called  Angkor Wat.

This temple is considered the heart and soul of Cambodia and has become the national symbol. Covering 200 hectares, this huge rectangular temple is a combination of two basic features of Khmer architecture: temple-mountain architecture along with long and narrow corridors. This structure represents Mount Meru, home of the gods in Hindu legend: between a moat and 3.6 km (2.2 mi) long wall is a three-story main hall with rectangular architecture, connected by rows of deep corridors.

The center of the temple is a complex of 5 towers with a central tower and four towers at four square corners. Unlike other Angkorian-style temples, Angkor Wat faces the west and there is still no unified interpretation of what this means. The temple is admired for the grandeur and harmony of its architecture, the abundance of sculpture and the large number of deities adorning its stone walls.

After the visit to Angkor Complex, you will be dropped off at Amazon or Kulen II restaurant to enjoy a buffet dinner with Khmer Traditional Dance Show.

Day 4: Time to Travel around Siem Reap

You will have a day free to explore Siem Reap. You can enjoy some delicious street food, indulge in a traditional Khmer massage, or get one final insight into the heart of Cambodia with a cooking class.

On the day, optional tours are still available for you to choose from. Usually, it is Tonle Sap Lake Half Day and Siem Reap cooking class half day that tourists can join.

Tonle Sap Lake is the greatest lake in Southeast Asia. Here, many Cambodians live and earn their living through aquaculture. On visiting Tonle Sap Lake, you will have a chance to immerse in the tranquility, admire the scenery and explore how life is going on every day.

On the other hand, in the Siem Reap cooking class, you will learn how to cook famous Cambodian dishes such as Nom banh chok, Bai sach chrouk, Ang dtray meuk, etc. You will then have a chance to try what you cook for the first time. In this way, you can explore the local culture through what and how its people eat.
