3 day Ha Long Bay experience
by Tripadvisor

We organised with the brilliant Mia Nguyen at Best Price travel for a 3 day, 2 night tour with Orchid cruises on their nostalgia boat.
Mia’s help and organisation was brilliant. Due to the typhoon we had to change plans but she was helpful, friendly and organised throughout. We genuinely could not have asked for more from her.
The boat was clean, comfortable and with some absolutely brilliant staff. We are well, plenty of options and lots of food available.
The trips we took from the boat were even better than expected. An amazing experience.

From the moment we landed in Ho Chi Minh City, everything ran like clockwork. All the arrangements were smooth and stress-free, allowing us to focus completely on enjoying the experience. Our time in Ho Chi Minh was excellent—vibrant, exciting, and well-paced. Hanoi was equally impressive, full of energy and charm, and we found ourselves falling in love with its old-world elegance. Our visit to Hue was incredibly insightful, especially with the background our guide provided on Buddhism. The journey along the coastal road from Hue to Hoi An was absolutely breathtaking, one of the most scenic drives we’ve ever done, and our time in Hoi An itself was magical.
Halong Bay, while still a highlight, was slightly less impressive in comparison to the other destinations, but it still offered stunning views and a unique atmosphere—an easy 8/10.
Cambodia was another major highlight. Our stay in Siem Reap exceeded expectations, with its magnificent temples and deep cultural heritage. Every day felt like a discovery.
We were especially lucky with our tour guides. Miss Vy in Vietnam was outstanding—her passion for her country and her depth of knowledge made every moment richer. Mr. Rittin in Siem Reap was equally excellent, not only guiding us to all the best photo spots but even sharing clever camera tricks that helped us capture the trip in new ways. In Hanoi, Mr. Trung brought everything to life with humor and insight, making our time there incredibly enjoyable. We also had a wonderful guide in Hue, whose name I sadly can’t recall, but his knowledge left a lasting impression. And finally, Lee, who accompanied us from Hue to Hoi An, was incredibly helpful and made sure everything in Hoi An went smoothly.
The food and drink along the way were also excellent. There was a great variety, and we really enjoyed the chance to sample so many local flavors—I'd rate the food experience a solid 9 out of 10.
All in all, this was a trip of a lifetime. The organization, the guides, the destinations—everything came together perfectly. It was an adventure filled with culture, beauty, and comfort. I’ve already recommended Hangmoon to several friends, and I’ll continue to do so. If you're planning to explore Vietnam and Cambodia, look no further. You’ll be in great hands. Less

Hanoi, Vietnam:
Our guide Tung was outstanding—personable, engaging, and deeply knowledgeable. He took the time to explain Vietnam’s rich history and culture in a way that was both accessible and memorable. The food tour, led by Jenny Tran, was another highlight. Her warm personality and engaging storytelling elevated the experience. She shared fascinating insights into each dish and clearly had a great rapport with the vendors, which made the tour feel authentic and enjoyable.
Halong Bay:
This part of the trip was fantastic. Our guide kept the group engaged and active, with a strong knowledge of the area that added depth to the scenic cruise experience.
Hoi An:
Our guide in Hoi An was friendly and made an effort to ensure we enjoyed the tour. There were occasional challenges in communication, but she compensated with her attentiveness and connections with local artisans, especially during our visit to the silk-making vendor.
Ho Chi Minh City:
The guide in Ho Chi Minh was very informative, particularly when covering Vietnam’s historical events. He was sensitive in preparing us for some of the more emotional content at the museums, which I appreciated. His thoughtful approach added depth to our understanding, though I recognize it may not resonate the same way for everyone.
Siem Reap, Cambodia:
Our guide here was excellent—patient and insightful during the temple visits. He gave us time to absorb the history and was proactive in pointing out significant details, even offering to take photos that captured meaningful moments.
Thailand:
In Chiang Mai, my guide was warm and tried her best to share background information, though I felt she is still growing in experience. Nonetheless, she made the day pleasant and even shared lunch with me, which I appreciated.
In Bangkok, Su Ying was the highlight of my entire trip. She was not only incredibly knowledgeable but also genuinely invested in making sure I had an amazing time. She encouraged me to wear a traditional outfit for temple photos—a unique and fun memory—and even helped coordinate a Thai massage when I mentioned back pain. Her enthusiasm, kindness, and attention to detail made the experience unforgettable. If I return to Bangkok, I would absolutely request her as my guide again.
Overall:
This trip exceeded my expectations thanks to the incredible local guides. Each brought something special to the experience, and I am especially grateful for their dedication, knowledge, and hospitality. Less

The room became far more comfortable, and the staff—especially the day receptionist and the gentleman on night duty—were incredibly courteous. Breakfasts were good, though they became repetitive after a couple of days. The bathroom design could be improved, as the shower easily flooded the floor, and it would have been useful to know in advance that toiletries were not provided.
At the Nicey Hotel in HCMC, the room was comfortable enough for a short stay, but the bathroom left something to be desired. The shower facilities, in particular, could use upgrading. Similar to other hotels on the trip, basic toiletries were not included, which I found inconvenient.
Halong Bay Cruise
The cruise accommodation was a highlight. It was cozy, clean, and the hot shower after a day of sightseeing was a welcome luxury. I thoroughly enjoyed this part of the trip.
I had a comfortable stay in Siem Reap. The room was spacious and relaxing, although, once again, toiletries were not provided. A small detail, but one that adds up over the course of a multi-stop journey.
In Hoi An, the room itself was quite comfortable, but the bathroom setup caused some frustration. The handheld shower handle wouldn’t stay in place, so I had to carefully adjust it each time I used it. Despite this, the overall atmosphere of the accommodation was pleasant.
My accommodation in Chiang Mai was average. The room was spacious and comfortable, but I struggled a bit with the shower—both the door and turning it on posed challenges. Still, it was a decent stay for a brief visit.
Bangkok offered one of the best hotel experiences on the tour. The room was well-appointed with a fantastic view and a convenient location. I also want to note that the hotels in Chau Doc and Can Tho were surprisingly good and added positively to the overall journey. Less

From beginning to end, everything was so well-organized — the itinerary was absolutely perfect, and the food and drinks along the way were a total 10 out of 10.
We really loved all of our guides. In Hanoi, our guide was informative, pleasant, and let us go at our own pace, which we appreciated. In Hoi An, we had one of the best tours of the whole trip — the guide was so much fun, and switching from pedal bikes to motorbikes made the experience even better. The cooking class and basket boat ride were such unique and memorable moments. In Ho Chi Minh, our guide was thoughtful and provided great context, especially when visiting emotional places like the War Remnants Museum. The guides in Cambodia were also great — polite, informative, and kind. In Thailand, all the guides were lovely, but the guide in Bangkok did have a bit of a language barrier, so we didn’t get as much information as we would’ve liked. Still, everyone was welcoming and kind.
And a big thank you to all the drivers! They were all excellent — except for one who drove us to the airport in Hue a bit too fast for comfort. Other than that, we felt safe and well taken care of throughout.
As for the hotels, they each had their own charm. The hotel in Hanoi had a great location and helpful staff, though the room was a bit tight for unpacking. Ho Chi Minh was comfortable with a great location. The Halong Bay cruise was a real highlight — beautiful boat, delicious meals, and our guide Duc was both fun and informative. In Siem Reap, we loved the lobby and the pool, and the room was nice, though the view wasn’t ideal since the window faced an interior corridor. Hoi An’s hotel stood out for its customer service and lovely meals, even though the room was again on the smaller side.
In Thailand, we had a nice stay in Bangkok — small room, but it had a balcony. It would’ve been great to have a pool given the heat, and we did have to leave a deposit, which hasn’t been refunded yet. Chiang Rai had a spacious room and friendly staff. Chiang Mai was wonderful — we had a beautiful room with a sitting area, plus fresh fruit and snacks waiting for us. And in Phuket, the resort was just lovely — great pools, leisure areas, and easy beach access by shuttle. Just something to note: they asked for a cash deposit there too, so it might be helpful to mention those details in future itineraries.
All in all, this was a truly wonderful trip. We’re so grateful to BestPrice Travel for putting together such a memorable experience. I’ll definitely be recommending you to friends and family! Less
