The chicken satay and papaya salad were some of the highlights, and we also got to try some unique dishes that we wouldn't have discovered on our own. The Chiang Mai cooking class was another highlight of our trip. The course was held at the Chiang Mai Thai Cookery School, which gave us a unique and authentic experience. The class was well-organized and easy to follow, and we learned how to cook some of the most delicious Thai dishes. The instructor was informative and provided us with helpful tips on how to prepare the dishes at home.
Overall, it was an excellent and enjoyable Thai cooking experience. On the last day in Thailand, I had the pleasure of visiting a Local Handicraft Village, and it was an unforgettable experience. The village was filled with skilled artisans who were creating beautiful handicrafts using traditional techniques. We got to watch the artisans at work and learn about the intricate processes involved in creating the handicrafts. The village was bustling with activity, and we could feel the passion and dedication of the artisans as they worked. The handicrafts on display were incredible, and we were amazed by the level of detail and craftsmanship that went into each piece. We also had the opportunity to purchase some of the handicrafts, which made for unique and meaningful souvenirs. The prices were reasonable, and it felt good to support the local community. We left the village feeling inspired and enriched by the experience. It was a unique and authentic experience that gave us a glimpse into the rich cultural heritage of the country.
After visiting Thailand, we came to Vietnam. Food on Foot - our guide this time was the charming Lucy. She picked us up on time from our hotel and set about taking us to those places, with the 'good stuff' where only the locals go. We ate amazing food and also enjoyed the company of some other fellow 'foodies' who joined us on the tour. The evening was so much fun, the food - Bun Cha, Banh Cuon, Snakehead fish wish noodles, Bun Ba Nem Ba, Egg Coffee (amazing!!) and Black Sticky Rice with Yoghurt - was incredibly 'tasty' and of incredible value for $25 per person. Lucy was very friendly and informative and was a real credit to Best Price. The puppet show in Hanoi was an incredible experience that I will never forget, (I almost forget I gotta mention this too!!). The show was held in a traditional water puppet theater and showcased the art of water puppetry, a unique form of Vietnamese entertainment. The puppeteers were incredibly skilled and brought the puppets to life in a magical way. The show was accompanied by traditional music and singing, which added to the overall ambiance and made for a mesmerizing experience. The show was suitable for all ages, and it was a fantastic way to learn more about Vietnamese culture and traditions. The theater was well-maintained, and the staff were friendly and accommodating.
Hoi An was the next destination after Hanoi. Our day in Tra Que Village was a truly unforgettable experience. From the moment we arrived, we were surrounded by the lush greenery and vibrant colors of the village. We started our day with a bike tour of the village, which was a fantastic way to explore the area and take in the stunning scenery. We got to see the local farms and learn about the traditional farming methods used in the village. After the bike tour, we had the opportunity to participate in a cooking class, where we learned how to prepare some of the most delicious Vietnamese dishes using fresh ingredients sourced from the village. It was an authentic and hands-on experience that gave us a deeper appreciation for the local cuisine. 2 days after we got to Mekong Delta, we got to see the daily life of the locals, including fishing, farming, and trading along the river. We also had the opportunity to visit a local rice noodle factory, where we learned about the traditional process of making rice noodles. It was fascinating to see the hard work and dedication that goes into making this staple food.
We cannot thank our guides and their team at Best price enough for the great service that they provided for us. We would thoroughly recommend them to anyone planning a trip to Vietnam. Less
