Khao Sam Roi Yot National Parkwas established in 1966; however, the landscapes themselves have existed for thousands of years, so many traces of the past are found.

In May 2020, the discovery of 3000-year-old cave paintings was announced by archaeologists from the Fine Arts Office. Some of them are still visible and clear, while others were damaged by limestone etching. According to archeologist Kannika Premjai, paintings describe human-like figures with accessories on their bodies, hunting scenes with bow, arrow, and also an animal figure which seems to be serow (a goat-like mammal found regionally).

Before this, Thai folklore has also had it that the Khao Sam Roi Yotarea was turned into by a Buddhist monk ages ago.
