Spanning around 78 km², Koh Rong's geography is mostly hilly, with a 316m (1,037ft) peak in the northwest. Koh Rong stands out for its over 43 km of pristine shore dotted with 23 beautiful beaches, which comprise 70% of its entire 61 km coastline. In 2000, Koh Rong was founded as a commune, and in 2019, it was made a city. It is the site of a 99-year land concession by The Royal Group to develop the island.

At the end of the season, the average temperatures can reach 35°C, with higher humidity likely playing a part in elevating the areas normally rather steady temperatures. The weather is still typically pleasant at this time, with rainfall being occasional and brief.

Rainy Season (June to October)

The odds become worse in July, when it's the wettest month by a long by, with rain falling for up to two-thirds of the time. Since Koh Rong Island, Cambodia, does not have an airport or a bridge, boats are the main means of transportation there. Sihanoukville is the primary departure location, offering fast ferries and speedboats to Koh Rong. 

From Sihanoukville

There are two main ways for travelers to reach Koh Rong from Sihanoukville:

Speed Ferry
