Morning

Start the day with a sunrise Tai Chi session on the sundeck, a serene moment surrounded by the calm waters of the river.

After breakfast, we journey to the village of Angkor Ban, where time seems to stand still. Visit a charming monastery, meet monks during their morning class, and enjoy warm conversations with the friendly villagers. Strolling through the rustic lanes offers a true glimpse of Cambodia’s timeless countryside life, authentic, peaceful, and wonderfully photogenic.

Afternoon & Evening

Back on board, the ship gently sails downstream toward Phnom Penh. Along the way, we stop at Prek Bangkong village, renowned for its traditional silk weaving.

Here, skilled artisans craft silk entirely by hand, from spinning the threads to weaving exquisite fabrics, a captivating display of artistry passed down through generations. The excursion also includes a visit to the heritage home of H.E. Sam-El, a royal architect, offering fascinating insights into Cambodia’s cultural past.

Day 3Kampong Laeng - Kampong Tralach - Phnom Penh

Morning

We are now in the heart of the vast Tonle region, one of Cambodia’s remarkable ecosystems. This morning’s excursion takes us to Kampong Laeang, a little-known hamlet located just across from the renowned pottery town of Kampong Chhnang.

After going ashore, tuk-tuks carry us through the countryside to experience rural Cambodian life. Along the way, we discover the art of pottery-making, visit a charming pre-Angkorian temple, and, from a scenic viewpoint, enjoy sweeping panoramas of seasonal rice fields and expansive floodplains.

Back on board, lunch is served with wonderful views of the Tonle River as the ship sails south toward Kampong Tralach.

Afternoon & Evening

Later, afternoon tea awaits at the bar before we set out on another adventure. An ox cart ride takes us along the riverside and through winding lanes bordered by rice paddies until we reach a village. Here, we learn about a local NGO school and library project, or visit a nearby 300-year-old temple and Buddha shrine.

Day 4Phnom Penh City Tour

Morning

Welcome to Phnom Penh, once celebrated as the “Paris of the East.” While the city has seen rapid growth in recent years, it continues to preserve much of its timeless charm and elegance.

Our full-day sightseeing begins after breakfast, starting with a leisurely cyclo ride through the bustling streets. We then visit notable landmarks such as the Royal Palace and the Silver Pagoda before moving on to the notorious “S21” prison, a sobering reminder of the Khmer Rouge era in the 1970s.

A delicious lunch in town follows, before we continue delving into Khmer culture in the afternoon.

Afternoon & Evening

Today's highlights include a visit to a renowned academy of arts and a school dedicated to safeguarding traditional heritage. Here, we can watch young performers rehearsing the graceful Apsara dance and even try a few basic movements under guidance.

The day concludes with a gentle stroll through the French Quarter and a stop at the iconic Wat Phnom temple.

Back on board, the evening unfolds with a festive open-air barbecue and gala dinner, enhanced by a traditional Apsara dance performance.

Afterwards, guests may wish to venture into the city on their own to enjoy its lively riverfront promenade, colourful cafés, and vibrant nightlife.

Day 5Phnom Penh - Border Crossing - Gieng Island

Before we bid farewell to Phnom Penh, gather in the lounge for a remarkable testimony. Mr. Sum Rithy, a survivor of S21 prison and later an active participant in the Khmer Rouge tribunal, shares his powerful story, offering guests a rare opportunity to engage directly with a living witness of Cambodia’s darkest chapter.

Once the ship sets sail, the rest of the day is yours to enjoy at leisure. Embrace the soothing rhythm of the Mekong, unwind at the spa, relax on your private balcony, or simply watch the world drift by from the terrace deck.

A visit to the bridge may reward you with fascinating tales from the captain about “his” river, while those with a culinary spirit can join a Khmer cooking workshop led by our head chef.

As afternoon tea is served, with drinks and sweet bites in hand, the ship gently approaches the Vietnam border. From here, we glide into the heart of the vibrant Mekong Delta, mooring for the night near Gieng Island.

After an energising morning Tai Chi session and a hearty breakfast, we set out to discover the vibrant spirit of the Mekong Delta.

Our first stop is Gieng Island, locally known as Mango Island, where shady mango groves define the lush landscape. Here, we visit a small incense workshop to witness the delicate art of handcrafting these fragrant sticks, followed by a stop at a traditional boat-building yard where families have passed down their skills for generations.

Before leaving, we are welcomed into a century-old home to enjoy freshly picked mangoes paired with local tea, a simple yet joyful taste of Mekong life.

Afternoon

Following a leisurely lunch and siesta back on board, our expert guide shares fascinating insights into daily life along the river as we sail towards My An Hung in Sa Dec province.

This charming village offers an authentic glimpse into rural Vietnam: we meet a local family, explore seasonal vegetable fields, and sample freshly cut fruits while sipping Vietnamese tea in their home. To complete the experience, a traditional dragon dance performance enlivens the atmosphere, paired with these natural “vitamin bombs.”

Let's start by wandering through the bustling central market, where colorful displays of fresh produce, seafood, and local specialties showcase the region’s agricultural abundance.

Continue to the historic residence of Huynh Thuy Le, best known for its connection to Marguerite Duras’ The Lover. The beautifully preserved house provides insight into a story that has become part of the town’s cultural legacy.

The excursion concludes at Kien An Cung Pagoda, a century-old Chinese temple renowned for its intricate architecture and serene atmosphere. Nestled along the riverside, it offers a tranquil retreat from the vibrant energy of the town before returning to the ship.

I recently finished it, and it was the most amazing trip I have ever experienced. It was everything Rosie said and more. I couldn't rate the Jahan staff and crew any higher, and Rosie was always helpful, no matter the time or what questions I had.

The cruise was brilliant! I did a Tripadvisor review praising them and you - thank you for everything. The Angkor Wat day went OK, but it was so hot that David felt quite bad, but that’s not your fault. Best wishes, Frances

I contacted BestPrice Travel early this year as I was planning a trip to Vietnam and Cambodia and wanted to cruise the Mekong River.
Rosie from BestPrice reached out to me and made several recommendations based on my requirements and dates. She recommended the Jahan, Heritage Line, from Saigon to Siem Reap (8 days and 7 nights). Rosie highly recommended Heritage, and the boat, people, food, excursions, service, and guides were exemplary.
Great overall experience.
