Shompoo Cruise Downstream 2 days: Houay Xay - Luang Prabang

Morning

If you are arriving from Thailand, you will meet our team from 7:30 at the Chiang Khong immigration office (Thai border). We will help you cross the bridge on board the mandatory shuttle bus and assist you with your Visa application for a hassle-free start to your journey. Once your visa is processed, enjoy a comfortable ride in a shared minivan to the slow boat pier for boarding.

If you are already in Houay Xay, a shuttle will pick you up directly from your hotel between 09:00 and 09:30 and take you to the boat pier.

While cruising the Mekong, our guide will present an engaging, quick lecture on Laos’ Do’s and Don’ts along with fascinating fun facts. Afterwards, you will savor a delightful traditional Lao lunch served on board as you enjoy the scenic journey.

Afternoon

Before reaching Pakbeng, we’ll visit the charming Kamu village of Ban Kang Lae, where you can experience the authentic rural lifestyle of a remote community and interact with the locals. The cruise proudly supports this village with regular donations.

Evening

Upon arrival at your hotel, proceed with check-in procedures. Then take some time to explore the surrounding area at your own pace. 

Enjoy your overnight stay in your hotel in Pakbeng.

Morning

Departure from Pakbeng at 8:00. While cruising, take in the stunning natural scenery and jungle surroundings. Our guide and crew will facilitate some brief onboard activities. 

Then, enjoy your free time on board during your journey. Then, you’ll be treated to a delicious traditional Lao lunch served right on the boat.

Afternoon

Our first stop will be at Ban Mouang village. Witness the traditional process of making Lao Lao whiskey, a local specialty. Do not miss the opportunity to taste a sample and enjoy the vibrant culture of the village.

The second stop is the Pak Ou Caves (Tham Ting), home to over two thousand Buddha statues and considered a significant pilgrimage site for the Lao people. Take a moment for quiet contemplation and reflection amidst the tranquil atmosphere of the caves. 

After exploring the caves, you’ll get to enjoy some homemade desserts and refreshing drinks prepared by the crew team.

At 16:30, the cruise arrives in Luang Prabang, marking the end of the journey.
