Ban Xieng Men is a small town on Makong Delta's bank with a small population; hence the atmosphere here is very peaceful. However, different from normal days, the town is crowded dramatically on New Year festival.
On the first day of New Year holiday, Luang Prabang people boat to the other side of Mekong Delta to reach Ban Xieng Men in order to participate in a special traditional festival. In the morning, hundreds of people, motor boats and rowing boat gather at the Mekong's bank noisily. Arrive Ban Xieng Men, people start implement an important rite: setting up sand towers and decorating them by leaves and white powder to hope for a New Year filling with luckiness and happiness.
