About Da Lat Cable Car

History

Before 1975, the Robin Hill area was where the Southern Defense Corps system was installed. After the liberation, this hill will be developed into a tourist and relaxation area in the Dalat suburbs. The cable car line was completed on February 3, 2002, and officially opened in early February 2003. The Robin Hill cable car is currently one of the most beautiful places in Dalat.

 

Structure

This cable car system started construction on February 3, 2002, inaugurated on January 24, 2003, and officially put into operation on February 1, 2003. It was designed, manufactured, and installed by Doppelmayr of Switzerland and Austria. Dalat cable car is one of the longest cable cars in Vietnam with the most modern technology of Austria and Switzerland.

The cable car's length is 2267 meters, and the cabin is supported by ten pillars as it crosses the pine forest. The system has 50 cabins and a distance of 120 meters between them at a speed of about 5 meters per second. With a total passenger capacity of 900 per hour, the cable car takes 12 minutes to travel the 2267 meters from Robin Hill to the Truc Lam Zen Monastery Station. The cable car at Truc Lam Zen Monastery station is a built-up terminal with a total floor area of up to 7500 square meters. In addition to a cable car station, there are shopping, souvenir and coffee shops.

Location and opening hours

Situated on Robin Hill with an elevation of 1517 meters above sea level, Dalat cable car has views southwest towards 2267 meters hill and pine forest to stop at Truc Lam Zen Monastery on Phuong Hoang mountain with the height of 1490 meters.

  • Dalat Cable Car might not be a thing for people having fear of height, and for your information, there’re sick bags on every car. 
  • The best time in the day to do this is in the morning, you will have more time to enjoy the scenery on the upper side.
  • If you want to see the “city in the fog”, come to Dalat in winter and enjoy the view from above, and summer is a great time to have a clear view of the pine forest, the little farm, and the city of Dalat.
  • If you want to avoid waiting (as it’s very crowded in peak season), come as early as the opening hour.
