Located on18A Highway connecting two cultural and economic centers of Quang Ninh province: Hon Gai and Bai Chay. Bai Chay Bridge creates favorable conditions for inner-city traffic in Ha Long city and connects the entire Highway 18A, as well as the three big cities: Hanoi - Hai Phong - Quang Ninh, making an important contribution in promoting socio-economic development of the entire northeastern region of Vietnam.
When there was no Bai Chay bridge, all travel activities were by Bai Chay ferry. The two ends of the ferry are parallel to Bai Chay bridge. When Bai Chay Bridge in operation, it is also the end of its historic mission after more than 50 years of Bai Chay ferry.
Bai Chay bridge
Connecting the two banks of Cua Luc Bay (Ha Long City, Quang Ninh), Bai Chay Bridge was built on May 18, 2003 and inaugurated on December 2, 2006. This is a reinforced concrete cable-stayed bridge with a main span length of 435 m, reaching a world record for this type of bridge under this structure. Before Bai Chay Bridge, this record belonged to Sunshine Skyway Bridge in America, with a main span length of 400 m.
Bai Chay Bridge was designed with cables connecting the vertical wire plane, therefore, seen from above, the bridge looks like a giant Harp. The technique to build elastic stay cables in Vietnam is not possible in many other countries, especially the length of the cable-stayed part proved the pinnacle of construction.

At the end of 2014, a company sponsored a lighting system of about 40 billion VND, including 8888 LEDs with 16 million colors, of which the popular colors were: red, yellow, orange, green, blue, indigo, purple. The led lights have made Bai Chay bridge lighting at night and increased the beauty of Ha Long Bay with colorful colors.
It can be said that with such a wonderful design, Bai Chay Bridge is the pride of the people in Quang Ninh. The scenery nearby the bridge also created a wonderful picture, combining many elements and beautiful interference makes an irresistible attraction of Bai Chay bridge.
