The first one tourists should stop by is Yone Gyi Street. This is the busiest also the longest one. Explorers can find a decent amount of cafes and restaurants, meet fellow travellers strolling around and shop at the actual supermarket where one can find yogurts, ice cream and the cheapest water. But coming after that touristy thing is a street with heavy traffic.

Next, tourists can pay Mingalar market a visit. This market works daily from early morning to mid-afternoon where local food stalls with tons of choices like sticky rice, rice cakes, salad from fried tofu, can be found. Not just that, visitors can buy handicrafts and fresh local produce from the lake like jewellery, cigars, scarves, knives and other goods. This is a local market so all the vendors selling everything at an affordable price.

There are more and more coffee shops, bars, and restaurants ready for tourists to explore. But the most exciting thing ever, is the cooking classes offered here! There is Myo Myo Cooking School with chef Myo Myo who will teach tourists to cook a full signature Burmese meal which is curry, salad, and soup. She will guide learners through the local market, explain everything, and help on how to buy fresh ingredients. The price is K20.000 for each person including transportation and ingredients fees.

Nyaung Shwe is seriously a must in every tourists’ plans when coming to Inle Lake since anyone can find the best budget here when it comes to food and beverages as well as the most vibrant town atmosphere in Inle Lake area.
