The Vinh Moc Tunnel System is not only used as a shelter for people here but also used by Vietnamese soldiers in the North. Until the year 1972, the residents finally left this tunnel, rebuilt their houses, and finally returned to a peaceful normal life.

What is inside the Vinh Moc Tunnels

The Vinh Moc Tunnels are built with 3 distinct parts underground with different purposes:

  • Part 1: Under the ground, about 12 m to 15 m, which is the place Vietnamese villagers lived during the war consisting of rooms for each family and kitchens.
  • Part 2: Deeper than Part 1 (about 18 m depth), this is where the Headquarters of the Party Committee and the Military Command are located.
  • Part 3: The deepest part of the Vinh Moc Tunnels, which is about 22 m under the ground, is served as a warehouse for logistics and food for Vietnamese citizens and soldiers.

  • If you have symptoms of claustrophobia, it’s not recommended to visit the Vinh Moc Tunnels
