Resembling Hoi An’s Japanese Bridge, this covered walkway was built in 1771 as a shrine to Japanese local Tran Thi Dao, who bequeathed her life savings for its construction. Childless and without a family, she offered her funds to the Thanh Toan Village for a new bridge to connect townspeople on both sides of the canal.
Located 8km (5 miles) outside Hue, this bridge is reached by way of the peaceful countryside, making it a pleasant escape from the bustling city. On the far side of the bridge is a small museum displaying ancient farming equipment that you can take a look at.
