Today is your free day to rest in Hanoi or explore neighboring provinces. If you haven’t had any idea about your journey, do not hesitate to refer to one of our exciting recommendations below:
Option 1: Traditional Handicraft Village Tour
Your exploration begins at Lang Non (Conical Hat Village), where the legendary Non La takes shape. Walking through its quiet lanes, you’ll see palm leaves spread out to dry beneath the sun, awaiting their transformation. Skilled hands fold and stitch with patience, crafting conical hats that embody the elegance and resilience of Vietnamese culture.
Continue on to Quang Phu Cau Incense Village, a destination that dazzles the senses with its vivid colors and sweet, smoky scent. Here, courtyards are covered with brilliant fans of red, gold, and purple incense sticks, creating a breathtaking mosaic under the open sky. As you wander past families at work, you’ll gain a deeper appreciation for this sacred craft, which has been passed down through countless generations.
Conclude your artistic discovery at Ha Thai Lacquerware Village, famous for its sophisticated craftsmanship. Watch as artisans build layer upon layer of paint, polish, and inlay to produce lacquer items that gleam with refined beauty. Whether it’s a decorative panel or a piece of fine tableware, every creation carries both the weight of tradition and the spark of innovation.
Option 2: Manh Farm Tour and Cooking Class in Hanoi Full Day
The day begins with a visit to a local countryside market, where you can experience the vibrant atmosphere and discover fresh produce and daily goods. Continue to the nearby vegetable fields, where farmers grow a variety of herbs and greens using traditional methods. Afterward, head to a local home for a hands-on cooking class, learning how to prepare four authentic Vietnamese dishes. Your meal will be complemented with fresh fruit and refreshments.
In the afternoon, enjoy a leisurely cycling trip to a neighboring village, riding through peaceful rural paths and visiting lush rice fields (in season from late February to October). Along the way, you’ll have the chance to experience the tranquil beauty of the countryside and interact with local people.
Option 3: Hanoi - Ky Son Day Tour
Depart from Hanoi in the morning and travel to Ky Son Village, where you’ll be welcomed at Moon Garden Homestay with local green tea and a traditional dessert. Begin your countryside adventure with a bicycle ride through the charming farming communities of Ky Son, Tam Son, Van Minh, and Cham.
Depending on your preference, you can opt for a shorter village ride to meet local families, visit a kindergarten, and even try your hand at seasonal farming activities, or a longer route that includes Duong Lam Ancient Village, Mia Pagoda, and Mong Phu Communal House. Along the way, you’ll also have the chance to visit homes of local craftsmen and candy makers.
Back at the homestay, join a cooking class and learn how to prepare authentic Vietnamese dishes before sitting down to enjoy a delicious lunch. Afterward, unwind with a soothing herbal hand massage and spend some free time relaxing or chatting with your host family about local culture and traditions. You may also sample seasonal treats such as sweet potato, cassava, maize, or peanuts.
Later in the afternoon, enjoy a traditional foot bath infused with ginger, salt, and medicinal herbs, followed by more leisure time to explore the village, visit the local market, or simply enjoy the peaceful atmosphere of the homestay.

The tour guides were a highlight were not only knowledgeable but also very personable. Other guides were informative and professional, although there were some minor issues with timing and coverage of attractions.
As for accommodations, most were satisfactory, with standout experiences in Hanoi and Halong Bay. However, some hotels were in isolated locations, and there were occasional issues with lighting and amenities.
Despite these minor issues, we had a positive overall experience and are grateful for the memorable moments and excellent service throughout the tour. Less
