Amethyst Cruise is a good choice for a 5-star day cruise in Halong Bay, suitable for tourists who don’t have much time to travel. As the cruise is newly launched, both the interior and exterior are new. We appreciate the staff and services, which are one of the cruise’s strong points. A long trip with a duration of up to 7.5 hours enables explorers to catch a glimpse of this wonderful heritage site.

Facilities & Amenities—9.8/10

With a total of 3 decks, the cruise’s capacity is huge—about 100 people onboard. The 1st and 2nd decks are restaurants with classy designs of Eastern and Western styles, and large glass windows provide vast Halong views for guests while they enjoy their meals.

The 2nd deck also has balconies to admire the bay; all balustrades are made of glass, which gives a better experience onboard. The sundeck is a wonderful place to unwind, having a Jacuzzi and delicate lounges.

Pros

• Both the facilities and appearance are new. Full amenities onboard
• Relaxing 4-season Jacuzzi and nice lounge on the sundeck
• Clean, modern toilets & coated bathrooms; toiletries are equipped fully
• All-glass balustrades give a more enjoyable experience while viewing the scenery of the bay
• Restaurants with large capacity: 1st deck—60 guests, 2nd deck—30 guests. The window’s glass is UV & sunlight-blocking

Cons

• Should have more coated bathrooms for guests (There are 6 coated bathrooms and 4 toilets for male & female in both 2 desks; if the cruise has a large number of guests onboard, some will have to wait a long time to use them).
• Wifi onboard is not stable

Foods & Drinks—9/10

The food concentrates on Vietnamese cuisine, with many tasty seafood dishes. The meal is quite good, while drinks (including a welcome drink and afternoon tea) are refreshing and tasty.

Pros

• Types of food are various, consisting of Vietnamese traditional cuisine, Asian & European food, as well as vegetarian food for vegans.
• Seafood comprises a high proportion of buffet lunch; seafood is fresh and delicious

Cons

• Dishes are limited; should offer more dishes for buffet lunch

Activities & Itinerary—9.8/10

The cruise provides diverse activities for guests that are suitable for both seniors and young people, from exploring dry caves, kayaking, swimming, climbing, etc. For relaxation lovers, you can just stay on the cruise and chill on the sundeck.

Pros

• Long time onboard—up to 7.5 hours
• Variety of fun activities for travelers, especially kayaking through Luon Cave and climbing to the peak of Titov Island for a panoramic view of Halong

Cons

• Sung Sot Cave will be explored first before the buffet lunch, so guests may feel tired after the cave tour

Services & Staff—10/10

Though the cruise is new, the services on board are exceptional. The staff team of Amethyst is kind, friendly, and professional.

Pros

• The staff is knowledgeable; tourists are introduced to the destination before visiting
• Attentive to guests if they need any help, as well as always paying attention to safety onboard if children move to a dangerous area
