Trip itinerary

Travel to the heart of the Mekong Delta, this trip is your chance to experience the famous Cai Be and see locals trading fruit and witness everyday life in the watery world. Following is the visit to Tan Phong Island, the green pearl of Vinh Long town where you can immerse yourself in nature. Enjoy your cooking experience and learn how to prepare special Vietnamese dishes. Food cooked by yourself and fresh river food served in the heart of the garden. Relax on the hammocks to get back your energy.

Fullday: Cai Be Market - Tan Phong Island

Morning

  • Start from the pier, we take an exciting boat trip on the Mekong Ecolodge ship, the first stop at Cai Be market where you can try local fresh fruits and know about the vendor lifestyle. 
  • This morning, also see the processed candy nuggets and try freshly made candy at Com candy craft village and the local honey tea at Bee Farm. 
  • Continue to Tan Phong island, where known as Mekong Delta's off-the-beaten part, to lost in the garden with local specialty fruit gardens such as durian, longan, plum, jackfruit, etc. as a seasonal treat. 
  • Visit Uncle 5 On's house and delight in Mekong's unique folk music "Don Ca Tai Tu" with a cup of tea and fresh fruits. Later, you can listen to the history of this flok song and interact with local artists. 
  • Farewell to Uncle Name Son's house and cruise into a small canal to get to Mekong Ecolodge for the cooking class and have lunch with fertile dishes.

Afternoon

  • Take a wake around the garden, freely harvest and eat fresh fruits such as apples, cherries, guava, strawberries, To Nu jackfruit...
  • Around 13:00: Sail back to Cai Be pier. End of the trip.

Mr Trong was so lovely and helpful, he's a really nice man. We really enjoyed the tour! Especially the visits to the local people, and the lunch was amazing, so tasty!
