Tri Nguyen Aquarium is located in the west of Hon Mieu islands, 8 km far from the Nha Trang city center. The aquarium is home to a great number of precious sea creatures which are valuable for researchers to study marine ecosystems and also a destination to explore the wonder of marine life.

Tri Nguyen Aquarium was built in 1971 by a local fisherman, Mr. Le Can, who donated his money to build a dam to block the sea water and embanked the lake with non-sealed stone to create a lively aquarium. After that, his project attracted the investment of the local government of Khanh Hoa Province to develop the aquarium for tourists.

 

What to see at Tri Nguyen Aquarium

Tri Nguyen Aquarium is uniquely designed as a fossil ship with a 60m height of 30m and 60m long. It has 3 floors with different purposes: the first floor for fish aquariums, the second floor for souvenir shops, and the third one for restaurants. The system of fish lakes in Tri Nguyen Aquarium includes two types: indoor and outdoor.

The outdoor fish lake system of Tri Nguyen Aquarium is 150 - 200 meters square, which has numerous kinds of marine animals such as mackerels, tunas, stingrays, shrimps, and sea turtles for you to explore. Besides sightseeing, you can also feed the sea turtles or experience fishing activities here.

The Indoor Fish Lake system is in the basement of the aquarium consisting of 4 big aquariums and a small one. It is designed in cave-shape with numerous stalactites which makes you feel like you are walking and immersing yourself deeply in the ocean.

Tri Nguyen Aquarium is just 8 km from the center of Nha Trang so you can easily get there by taxi and boat. First, you have to catch a taxi or Grab to Cau Da Port, which costs US $5 - $10 depending on where you stay and how many people you have.

  • The best time to visit Nha Trang and Tri Nguyen Aquarium is from January to August, the dry season in Nha Trang so that you can fully enjoy the trip with nice weather and crystal-clear seawater.
