Top 4 Destinations in Central Vietnam for Summer Holiday

Travelers to Vietnam are fed up with touristy destinations that haven’t been improved for many years. If you are visiting Vietnam for the first time, there are some must-see destinations in the North and the South. But if you are planning to visit Vietnam again, here are some places in central Vietnam that might be new for you to explore.

1. Nghe An

Traveling in Vietnam, you must know or hear about Ho Chi Minh president, am I correct? Nghe An located in northern central Vietnam and it also is the home town of Ho Chi Minh and many other Vietnamese heroes. This is the largest province of Vietnam. Here you can find your peaceful space with lots of culture and history. Here are some places you can visit in Nghe An:

Cua Lo Beach is one of the most famous beach in Nghe An which is scaling very quickly in number of tourist every year. This is a great place for a walk, ride bicycle or take some photos of the sunset.

Thanh Chuong tea farm. Located in west Nghe An with hot and dry weather, but you will find it completely different and refreshing with the green color when visiting Thanh Chuong tea farm. Several hills covered with green tea plants, this looks like a complete heaven. You can hire a boat to go around the farm for 100.000VND to 150.000 VND.

Kim Lien village. Kim Lien village or Lotus village is the home town of president Ho Chi Minh-Vietnamese greatest hero. Behind the bamboo forest is a simple wooden house where Ho Chi Minh was born. After many years but the house still being very well preserved, every items inside are the same. Visiting Kim Lien village, you will learn a lot about history, childhood of Ho Chi Minh and feel the peace of Vietnam rural area.

2. Lang Co

Lang Co is a small town, Phu Loc district, Hue province, located about 60km south Hue city, under the famous giant Hai Van pass. Lang Co has plenty of beautiful, golden-san beach and several luxurious resorts. This also has the 1 A highway and North-South national railway. Lang Co is one of the most beautiful beach In Vietnam with less touristy, 10km of golden sand coastline, crystal clear water and a very large rain forest.

Visiting Lang Co is a great idea because it lay between 3 natural reserves: Hue Citadel, Hoi An Ancient Town and My Son Sanctuary. 30km from Danang and 60km from Hue, travelers in Lang Co can release the stress from these 2 destinations. You can have a lot of time to explore life of the local fisherman, have some fresh seafood that you can buy when they have just caught them. Lang Co is a great place for nature lovers.

3. Cu Lao Cham Island

If you are too tired with busy, touristy, big tourist destinations, then Cu Lao Cham is the best for you to escape. Cu Lao Cham consists of many small islands in Hoi An city, Quang Nam province, 16km away from Cua Dai beach, recognized by UNESCO as the National reserve. With the population of 3.000, this is a good place for nature lover. This amazing island is a historical destination along with Hoi An port from many years ago which knew as “Champello”, “Pulau Champa” or “Pulicam”, etc. Cu Lao Cham still maintains many ancient structures from hundreds of years ago. There are some places you should visit, they are the Ocean museum, Champa ancient well, etc.

After 30 minutes traveling by speed boats, you will feel the refreshing atmosphere with fresh air, crystal clear water, numerous of both flora and fauna system. Cu Lao Cham is famous for bird nest because only in here, bird nest can develop and harvest, but the amount is still very limited, only for export and each tourist can only buy one portion of it if they want. Stone crab is also very famous and rare. Besides 2 unique products, you can enjoy the fresh seafood here, you can see they are still alive and swimming, all you have to do is picking what you want and tell the chef to cook you a delicious meal.

Cu Lao Cham has crystal clear water and golden sand beaches that you don’t want to miss. With less tourist and located far from the mainland, beaches here are super clean. You can enjoy the sun and sea here, it’s truly heaven. There are also many exciting activities here on the island. Being the natural reserve means there are a lot to see under the water surface. Corals, colorful fishes, sea creatures you have never seen before! You can go snorkeling to see them. If you want to have a closer look and TOUCH them, scuba diving is not a bad idea. A professional diver will take you deep down the surface for 10 minutes and it costs about 35USD. There are other activities like jetski (water motorcycle), snorkeling, etc. Cu Lao Cham is a great place to spend your summer.

Note: You can’t travel to Cu Lao Cham yourself because this is a natural reserve, every tourist have to book a tour if they want to go.

4. Phong Nha – Ke Bang National Park

Phong Nha – Ke Bang is a natural park in Bo Trach and Minh Hoa district, Quang Binh province. This is one of the largest karts mountains area complex consists of over 300 spectacular caves, also known as “The kingdom of caves”, one of the best creation of Mother Earth. Besides the mountain, Phong Nha – Ke Bang also famous for its underground rivers and hundreds of endangered species, both flora and fauna, some of them are listed in the Red Book. This is the best destination for explorers and nature lovers.

Visiting Phong Nha – Ke Bang, you must go to Nuoc Mooc Spring to enjoy the most relaxing moment. You will be covered with fresh air of the untouched jungle and it would be heaven indulging in the cool water of Nuoc Mooc Spring. Thanks to the special geography condition, Nuoc Mooc Spring has the blue color like a mysterious aquamarine stone, you will never feel the heat of central Vietnam in here for sure, like stepping into a complete different world. Also, you will have chances to see many wild animals and birds.

The legendary Son Doong cave, this is NOT for everyone, especially amateur trekkers. This is the largest natural cave in the world with 6km length, 150m height and 200m width. This is only the surface part linking with over 150+ underground caves. Experts said this is a glorious, extravaganza natural creation with many shapes of lime stone, there is a growing and untouched forest growing INSIDE the cave. Tourists who want to visit Son Doong cave have to register years in advance and have to train very hard to be able to qualify in the strength test, and the cost for a short tour can be up to a couple hundred millions VND. Unfortunately, Son Doong tourism is currently closed by the government to maintain and protect, keep it as authentic as possible.
