Gway Chaung

Gwechaung is in Myanmar and is nearby to Bogyi Tè and Thetngegyin.

Gwechaung Village lies on the Irrawaddy River in Upper Myanmar (Burma). It is where the Italians built the Gwechaung Fort on the higher part of the eastern bank of Ayeyawaddy River. It was constructed under a hill as an underground fort. The fort was built in 1864 at the same time as the Minhla Fort on the opposite bank to keep the British at bay from Royal Burma.
