Toad islet is about 12 km from Bai Chay beach to the southeast, in Ha Long bay. This islet looks like a toad sitting to wait for the rain, so it is named as Toad islet. The Toad is known as uncle of the Jade Emperor in Vietnamese culture - associated with the fairy tale about the arduous journey of the animal group about to die because of drought. They went to the heaven ask the Jade Emperor for the rain. This group was led by the toad and after winning, the Jade Emperor had to take Toad to be his uncle and whenever the toad grited his teeth, he must follow the order and make the rain on the earth. Today, Toad islet is still standing in Ha Long Bay, contributing significantly to many discovery tours in Ha Long Bay, attracting a huge number of domestic and foreign tourists.
